Filmmaker Zack Snyder’s new two-part Netflix intergalactic sci-fi epic “Rebel Moon,” dubbed his version of “Star Wars,” has wrapped filming.
The “Man of Steel” filmmaker announced the news on Vero and included a small clip of Korean actor Bae Doona who plays a sword-wielding nemesis.
The story of a colony on the edge of the galaxy that is threatened by the armies of the tyrannical regent Belisarius (Ed Skrein). In a desperate attempt, the civilians send out a young woman (Sofia Boutella) to seek warriors from other planets to fight the tyrannical armies.
In his post, Snyder says: “Thank you to everyone who worked on shooting Rebel Moon. I am humbled by your artistry, dedication, your incredible hard work, and your friendship. Without you there simply would be no movie. So again, I thank you! That’s a wrap on principal photography!!!!”
The cast also includes Anthony Hopkins as the voice of a sentient robot, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Michiel Huisman, Jena Malone, Cary Elwes, Ray Fisher, Corey Stoll, Alfonso Herrera, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Kingston Foster, Ingvar Sigurdsson, Fra Fee, and Staz Nair.
Shooting on the project began in April this year. Snyder co-wrote the film with “300” co-writer Kurt Johnstad, and “Army of the Dead” co-writer Shay Hatten. “Rebel Moon” is expected to have a limited theatrical run before its streaming debut, with no release window yet set.
