“Rings” Film Star Not A “Rings” TV Fan

Veteran actor Bernard Hill has no interest in Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” series, and he shared that take in the British media.

The well-regarded actor is well known around the world for plyaing King Theoden of Rohan in two of Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” films.

In a recent interview with Metro, Hill was asked if he had seen Amazon Prime’s eight-episode first season of the series which is set millennia before the events seen in Jackson’s trilogy. Hill said:

“No, not interested. It’s a money-making venture and I’m not interested in watching that or being in it. Good luck to them and all that stuff but it’s not like the real thing.”

Hill was then asked if the franchises should’ve ended with Jackson’s original trilogy to which he said yes, though he found Jackson’s subsequent trilogy to have merit:

“Completely, yes. I think they were pushing it when they made ‘The Hobbit’. The Hobbit’s a tiny book. They did it well – they did it really, really well. They expanded it [but] I think you can only stretch a piece of elastic so far. I think they managed it in ‘The Hobbit’ because there were some really good things in ‘The Hobbit’ without a doubt.”

Critics have been largely positive on “The Rings of Power” which has a five-season plan mapped out and is currently in production on its second season.
