“Super Mario Bros. Movie” Opens Early Overseas

Illumination

Following yesterday’s trailer, it has been confirmed across numerous countries that Universal Pictures and Illumination’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” is going early overseas.

Whilst the United States gets the film on April 7th and Japan on April 27th, the rest of the world will be getting it at least a week ahead of the U.S., with the likes of France getting it on March 29th, and countries like Australia, Brazil, New Zealand and the UK getting it March 30th.

A few countries will get it a week earlier than that on March 22nd & 23rd, whilst South America is getting it the same weekend as the United States. One European country where the film is seeing mild delay is Italy, who’ll get it on April 6th.

This adaptation of the popular Nintendo games follows two Brooklyn plumbers who are brothers and best friends: Mario, the brave one with the ‘let’s-a-go’ attitude, and the perpetually anxious Luigi, who would prefer to go nowhere.

The pair are forced to leave behind their struggling plumbing business and wind up in a whirlwind adventure through the Mushroom Kingdom as they try to unite the land in an effort to defeat Bowser.

Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Seth Rogen, Keegan-Michael Key and Jack Black lend their voices to the film.
