Following the announcement of its plans for an “Atlas Shrugged” TV series, conservative media firm The Daily Wire has optioned the film and TV series rights to develop and produce a TV series adaptation of Stephen R. Lawhead’s “The Pendragon Cycle” books for the DailyWire+ streaming service.
Lawhead’s books are a reimagining of the Arthurian myth, this one shifting the time period to the fall of the Roman occupation of Britain. Pagan tribes warred with Saxon and Pict invaders, and Christianity was on the rise in this tumultuous and bloody time.
It’s here that Merlin, the son of both a bard and an Atlantean princess, pursues his father’s dream of a unified Britain and searches for a king who can unite the land.
Daily Wire company co-CEO Jeremy Boreing says the adaptation will be the company’s most ambitious project to date. Boreing, Ben Shapiro, Caleb Robinson, Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk are producing. The plan is for the series to premiere in late 2023.
