Whitaker On Filming Her Final “Who” Scenes

BBC

Jodie Whittaker’s final adventure as The Doctor takes place next month, the actress will say goodbye in the 90-minute special “The Power of the Doctor”.

Talking about finishing off her scenes as the thirteenth incarnation of The Doctor after five years of playing the role, she tells Empire that filming those final scenes, which involve her regeneration, were quite emotional:

“I love the dialogue [showrunner Chris Chibnall] wrote for my regeneration. It captures my Doctor beautifully. It’s simple, epic and beautiful.

When I could see the crew was happy with that last shot, that’s when my bottom lip started going. I was like, ‘Well, they can’t say they need another take now because I’ve f—ing lost it!'”

As for the overall episode itself, Whittaker says fans of the franchise should be very satisfied:

“It’s one for the Whovians. It’s a huge treat if you’re a proper fan. It’s got all the iconic things that you associate with Doctor Who. It’s massive.”

Her final episode will air as a part of the BBC’s week-long centenary celebrations in October and sees the return of The Master (Sacha Dhawan), the Daleks, the Cyberman, and plenty of former companions, including 1980s regulars Ace (Sophie Aldred) and Tegan (Janet Fielding).
