Despite mixed critical reviews, very late release trailers, and little in the way of non-digital promotion, Ryan Murphy’s oddly titled serial killer series “Dahmer: Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” has been a hit for streaming giant Netflix.

Deadline reports that 196.2 million people have tuned into the series since its launch a week ago on September 21st. That puts it behind only “Squid Game,” “All of Us Are Dead,” and the most recent seasons of hit originals “Stranger Things” and “Bridgerton” as the biggest Netflix launch of the past fifteen months (the streamer swapped to new ratings figures in June 2021).

The series beat out other recent hits like “Inventing Anna” and “You” Season 3, and is expected to be significantly bigger numbers than Murphy’s other Netflix series like “Hollywood,” “Halston,” “Ratched” and “The Politician”.
