Marvel Studios has set Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer (“Disaster Wedding”) to pen the script for the upcoming “Fantastic Four” film which will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to Deadline, the writing duo have actually been involved with the project even before director Matt Shakman came onboard to helm the new film. The pair have been working alongside Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to outline how this next series of films will fit into the MCU.
Kaplan, Springer and Shakman now will come together to align their visions for this project before the writers get into writing the script. Whilst that is being written, Feige and Shakman will get to casting the major roles.
The film opens November 8th 2024 and was looking to be the start of ‘Phase 6’ of Marvel Studios, coming after ‘Phase 5’ ender “Thunderbolts” in July 26th 2024. However a recent release date change has seen an unknown Marvel film being slotted into a September 2024 release date and it’s not clear what ‘Phase’ that project belongs to as yet.
The “Fantastic Four” characters appeared in four previous films – the two 20th Century Fox movies directed by Tim Story, and the 2015 reboot directed by Josh Trank.
