Fingernails
Jeremy Allen White (“The Bear,” “Shameless”) is set to join Jessie Buckley and Riz Ahmed in Christos Nikou’s new film “Fingernails” at Apple Original Films, Dirty Films and FilmNation Entertainment.
In this sci-fi love story, a test has been discovered that measures whether couples are truly in love, with institutes opened up to help couples succeed.
Anna (Buckley) begins working at one of these institutes as an assistant to the mysterious and dedicated instructor Trevor (Ahmed). White will play Ryan, Anna’s longtime partner.
Nikou, Stavros Raptis and Sam Steiner co-wrote the script and filming begins later this year. [Source: Deadline]
The Way Down
Sarah Paulson is set to executive produce and star as cult-like figure Gwen Shamblin in the scripted series adaptation of docuseries “The Way Down” for HBO Max. Michelle Dean (“The Act”) will serve as showrunner.
Shamblin rose to fame with her Christian-based diet program, a charismatic figure with a carefully curated image who was accused of emotional, psychological and physical abuse and exploitation for the church’s alleged cult-like practices. [Source: Deadline]
Gran Turismo
Darren Barnet (“Never Have I Ever”) has joined the expanding cast of Neill Blomkamp’s “Gran Turismo” film at Sony Pictures. The film follows a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won him a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race-car driver.
David Harbour, Archie Madekwe and Orlando Bloom co-star. Barnet will play a racer ranked at the top at the GT academy who is not thrilled to see the teen protagonist excel. “Gran Turismo” hits cinemas on August 11th 2023. [Source: THR]
Miller’s Girl
Jenna Ortega will join Martin Freeman in “Miller’s Girl” at Lionsgate and Point Grey. The project marks the directorial debut of writer-director Jade Halley Bartlett.

Valiant One
Lana Condor, Desmin Borges and Callan Mulvey have signed on to star alongside Chase Stokes in the thriller “Valiant One” at Monarch Media. Eric Tipton wrote the script and filming begins in Vancouver this month.
The film begins when a U.S. helicopter crashes on the North Korean side of the DMZ. With tensions high, the surviving U.S. Army non-combat tech soldiers must work together to protect a civilian tech specialist and find their way across the DMZ without any support. [Source: Deadline]
