Interviews taken last weekend with some of those involved in Marvel Studios’ “Thunderbolts” have now surfaced over at ET Online with a couple of key quotes worth a look.
First up, the film’s director Jake Schreier offered a basic summary of the story, saying you can expect to see “an incredible group of people who share a certain type of past trauma, learning to work together in a way”
Actor David Harbour, who was also on hand, was a bit more forthcoming about the film, saying this is not a gritty Avengers so much as a variation on the Suicide Squad style deal:
“There’s a lot of really exciting work happening on this movie. I also think it’s a unique MCU movie in the sense that you’ve got a bunch of misfits and outcasts and losers and people who don’t really live up to the super in superhero.
And also all of us are such cool, interesting performers — I think audiences have some complicated feelings about a lot of us — and I think that’s a terrific thing going in.”
Co-star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, meanwhile, only had one brief thing to say: “[it] means that my children now really respect what I do for a living.”
Harbour plays Red Guardian and is joined in the film by Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier.
The project is currently in pre-production ahead of an expected shoot early next year.
