Nearly a hundred videos from an apparent development build of “Grand Theft Auto 6” have been leaked onto social media and YouTube after first appearing on the GTA Forums by user tepotuberhacker.
The leaker claims the videos were downloaded from Slack and shows large open-world gameplay alleged to be from GTA 6. The videos seemingly confirm the game takes place in the Miami-esque Vice City as GTA franchise elements (like certain brands of cars & alcohol) can be seen along with one of a character in a Vice City Metro train.
Earlier this year, a Bloomberg report indicated the new game is at least two years away and would boast a playable female Latina protagonist – one of a pair of leading characters – according to their sources.
This would appear to be reflected in the leaked footage, which features both a playable male and female character. It also shows off a new conversation mechanic similar to “Red Dead Redemption 2.”
Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has since confirmed on Twitter that the leak is genuine in a tweet, saying:
“Not that there was much doubt, but I’ve confirmed with Rockstar sources that this weekend’s massive Grand Theft Auto VI leak is indeed real. The footage is early and unfinished, of course. This is one of the biggest leaks in video game history and a nightmare for Rockstar Games”
It’s expected “Grand Theft Auto VI” will be released in full in 2024 or 2025. “Grand Theft Auto V,” which was released in 2013, has reached nearly 170 million units sold-in.
