Melton To Lead Haynes’ “May December”

The CW

“Riverdale” alum Charles Melton has landed the coveted lead role in Todd Haynes’ next film “May December” opposite Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore.

The story takes place two decades after the scandalized romance between teacher Gracie and her student Joe.

Moore and Melton play the now older couple with a movie set to be made about their life. A Hollywood actress named Elizabeth (Portman), who’ll be playing Gracie in the film, comes to spend time with the family to better understand her character.

Family dynamics unravel under the pressure of the outside gaze. Joe starts to confront the reality of life as an empty-nester at 36.

Meanwhile Elizabeth and Gracie study each other, the similarities and differences between the two women begin to ebb and flow.

Samy Burch wrote the screenplay, from a story by Burch and Alex Mechanik. Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell, Christine Vachon and Pam Koffler are producing.
