Currently topping the box-office is “Barbarian,” a horror film from comedy series creator Zach Cregger who makes his directing debut.
There’s plenty of talk about the film, with one topic being what does Cregger intend to do next after his impressive debut.
It turns out he’s already written some films that he hopes to get made in the near future, one of which is a script he dubs “Batman-adjacent” and is set in the DC Universe he tells Bloody Disgusting.
Cregger says he wrote the script for that project for his own enjoyment, not at any request of DC or Warners so there are no plans for it to be made as such. He loves it so much though that he’s hoping to see it made someday: “I wrote it and I’m utterly obsessed with it. So one day… I want to make that.”
He similarly wrote “Barbarian” for his own enjoyment, never thinking it would get made – and then it did. Warners has also had great success with the ‘Batman-adjacent’ film that was “Joker,” so it could happen.
Another project he hopes to make in the near future is a horror film that he dubs as being “weirder” and “way more ambitious” than his debut, which is in cinemas now.
