Tesla founder Elon Musk has seemingly reignited his rivalry with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, this time over Amazon’s costly new series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.”
The premiere of the first two episodes arrived on September 2nd on Prime Video, opening to strong reviews and 25 million global viewers during their first 24 hours available to stream.
Taking to Twitter a few hours ago, despite currently attempting to exit his proposed $44 billion takeover of the social media platform, Musk revealed he is not a fan of the new series.
He says: “Tolkien is turning in his grave… Almost every male character so far is a coward, a jerk or both. Only Galadriel is brave, smart and nice.”
His comments follow in the wake of Amazon shutting down user reviews of the series for a 72-hour period following review bombing taking place across multiple critical aggregation and film database sites.
The effects can still be seen on sites like IMDb where the number of votes for 1/10 and 10/10 remain highly disproportionate to those for other scores.
The remaining episodes of the series are set to continue weekly until the eight-episode season wraps its run on October 14th.
The comments also come as “Musk vs Bezos: The New Star Wars,” a TV documentary that deals with the space race between the two richest men in the world and their SpaceX vs. Blue Origin rivalry, has reportedly secured multiple global sales.
