The Star Trek convention 56-Year-Mission Las Vegas has been underway over the weekend, bringing together a whole bunch of talent from the various “Star Trek” shows.

One person who held sway over a panel was former “Star Trek: Voyager” star Kate Mulgrew who famously played Captain Katherine Janeway across seven seasons of the series.

Asked if we might see her character get a spin-off much like Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard did, Mulgrew indicated (via Twitter) there have been ‘talks’ but so far nothing beyond that:

“I would say very simply ‘That’s up to you’ [poiints to audience]. There are talks, you know? There are conversations. Have I been offered anything directly? No.

I think they’re looking at Picard. They’re looking at the value of Picard. They’re looking at the reaction to Picard. I’m sure all of you loved it, didn’t you? I don’t know what they’re thinking, but I think that Janeway was one of a kind, right? I don’t know, but I do think it is up to you [indicates crowd] as it is up to me.”

Janeway was last seen on screen in live-action form in the 2002 film “Star Trek: Nemesis,” but recently rejoined the universe in the animated series “Star Trek: Prodigy”.

A lot of eyes meanwhile will be on “Star Trek: Picard”, which is slated to release its third and final season in 2023.
