That now iconic, overly earnest but highly quotable Nicole Kidman-led AMC Theaters commercial is officially getting a sequel according to Vanity Fair.

Revealed a year since the original advert premiered, the news comes straight from Oscar-nominated “Captain Phillips” and “Shattered Glass” screenwriter Billy Ray who wrote the original.

He tells the magazine that AMC reached out to him recently to get him onboard for a follow-up:

“I got a text from the chairman of AMC about a month ago asking me if I would write the next one, and of course, the answer to that is yes. It’s already written.”

Ray says he was been blown away by the impact of the original video, saying “nobody saw this coming, nobody.” As a result, he’s “very, very excited” for what’s in store for the sequel:

“All I can tell you about it is we are not dumb enough to fly in the face of the one we’ve already done and try to top it. So it’s a very, very different approach that is a little bit of a wink to the one we’ve already done.”

He adds that it will definitely feature Kidman once more as he’s “not doing it without Nicole”. That’s not unexpected as Kidman recently signed on for another year as spokesperson for AMC.
