Universal Pictures has announced that “Halloween Ends,” the third and final film in the long-running slasher series’ recent trilogy, will premiere on Peacock on the same day it releases in cinemas – October 14th.
The film will only be available to stream to those who have a paid subscription to Peacock Premium or Premium Plus, the ad-supported, free version will not carry the film.
The surprise announcement means the film will follow in the footsteps of the second movie “Halloween Kills” last year, which adopted the same idea to launch in cinemas & streaming simultaneously.
That movie ended up grossing $131 million from a $20 million budget along with driving signups to Peacock. So Universal has opted to take that approach again, and star Jamie Lee Curtis has posted a video promoting the new release below.
In the film, four years have passed since that night as Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since.
Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life.
But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.
