Over three months after this year’s Academy Awards ceremony, actor Will Smith has now spoken on video about the infamous ‘slapping’ incident.
In the nearly six-minute video just posted to his official YouTube account, Smith offered up apologies in the form of answering questions raised on the internet about what happened during and after Smith struck Oscar presenter Chris Rock for making a joke about Smith’s wife’s hair.
Smith apologises to Chris Rock, saying he’s “here whenever you’re ready to talk” before offering up an apology to Rock’s mother and brother Tony Rock.
Smith acknowledges the ‘heat’ his wife and kids have taken over the incident and also addresses how his actions impacted his fellow nominees.
Smith previously issued written apologies along with announcing he was resigning from the Academy. Smith has been banned from appearing at the ceremony for a decade.
