Three-time Oscar-winning “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy composer Howard Shore will return to Middle Earth for Amazon Studios’ upcoming “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” TV series.

Shore has reportedly returned to compose the original main title theme for the blockbuster $465 million series. At the same time, Emmy-winning “Battlestar Galactica” and “Outlander” composer Bear McCreary will be handling the full episodic series score.

Over the past year, McCreary has reportedly recorded and composed hours of music for the score with the help of a full symphonic orchestra, folk instruments and choral singers.

Shore’s involvement marks the strongest connective tissue between the original Peter Jackson trilogy and the new series which premieres on the Amazon Prime service on September 2nd.
