Recently came the report that Rockstar had ditched plans for modern remasters of the original “Red Dead Redemption” and “Grand Theft Auto IV” due to the poor reception to 2021’s “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition”.

Then came word the company was effectively done with working on any new major DLC for its “Red Dead Online” title. A lot of this is tied to the upcoming sixth “Grand Theft Auto” as the company is shifting to put a lot of focus on that title.

Now, Playstation Lifestyle reports that according to Rockstar insider Tez, he has heard that Rockstar had also planned updates for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of “Red Dead Redemption 2” – but those have been cancelled or halted.

While both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S do run the game better than the previous generation of hardware, both could run it far better were a native version available with higher frame rates, dramatically faster loading and more along with better showcasing the game’s lush visuals.

No word as to when “Grand Theft Auto VI” might hit shelves.
