Marvel star Jeremy Renner is set to play award-winning journalist David Armstrong in a new untitled biopic for Expanded Media/LBI Entertainment and 101 Studios.
Armstrong was the Pulitzer-winning investigative reporter whose damning investigations into the Sackler family, owners of pharmaceutical companies Purdue Pharma and Mundipharma, helped shine on a light on the opioid crisis.
Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly (“Queenpins”) will direct the film which follows in the wake of docos like HBO’s “Crime of the Century” and scripted series like Hulu’s “Dopesick” last year.
