Universal Pictures has once again pushed back “The Last Voyage of the Demeter,” its long gestating horror film based on an iconic chapter within Bram Stoker’s novel “Dracula”.
Originally slated for January 27th 2023, the film will now open nearly seven months later on August 11th 2023. After spending many years in development, the film was shot and is finally on the way with first look footage recently screened for exhibitors.
The story centers on the merchant ship Demeter, chartered to carry fifty unmarked wooden crates from Carpathia to London, only for its doomed crew to endure strange events – stalked each night by a merciless presence onboard.
Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Jon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, Nikolai Nikolaeff and Javier Botet co-star. Andre Øvredal helms from a script by Bragi F. Schut, Stefan Ruzowitzky and Zak Olkew.
