Lupita Nyong’o has exited the currently in production limited series adaptation of Laura Lippman’s novel “Lady in the Lake” at the Apple TV+ service.
The story is set in 1960s Baltimore where an unsolved murder pushes housewife Maddie Schwartz (Natalie Portman) to reinvent her life as an investigative journalist.
She’s soon on a collision course with Cleo Sherwood, a hard-working woman juggling motherhood, multiple jobs and a passionate commitment to advancing Baltimore’s Black progressive agenda.
Portman remains attached to the series as co-lead and executive producer. Alma Har’el created the series and is also a director and executive producer alongside Christopher Legget and Sophie Mas.
Nyong’o recently exited an adaptation of the Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie novel “Americanah” at HBO Max due to scheduling conflicts.
