“The Batman” Sequel Officially Announced

The Batman Gets A Fiery Poster
Warner Bros. Pictures

Kicking off its CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas this afternoon with its least surprising announcement, Warner Bros. Pictures has announced a sequel to this year’s “The Batman”.

Robert Pattinson is set to return as Bruce Wayne/Batman while director Matt Reeves is also coming back for the new entry. No further dates for filming or release, and no further cast inclusions were revealed.

The announcement comes in the wake of the gritty three-hour detective noir film grossing $759 million to date at the global box office, the best of 2022 so far.

The film also marked a return to exclusive theatrical releases for Warner Bros. Pictures who gave the film a 45-day cinema only window before hitting HBO Max last week.

Early HBO Max viewing numbers from analytics firms suggest the film has done better than almost all of Warners’ day-and-date HBO Max movies released last year, cementing their strategy to keep churning out theatrical releases.
