Dominic Cooper, Jack Lowden, Hugh Bonneville, Tom Cullen, Sean Harris, Charlotte Spencer, Emun Elliott, Ellora Torchia and Stefanie Martini have all joined the cast of “The Gold” series for The BBC and Paramount+ service.

Neil Forsyth (“Guilt”) while Aneil Karia (“The Long Goodbye”) and Lawrence Gough (“Misfits”) direct this dramatisation of the UK’s ‘crime of the century’ and the decades-long chain of events that followed.

The six-episode series charts how six armed men broke into the Brink’s-Mat security depot near Heathrow Airport in November 1983 in a “typical Old Kent Road armed robbery”. However, the thieves inadvertently stumbled across £26 million in gold bullion.

The turn of events left a lasting legacy as the disposal of the bullion led to the birth of large-scale international money laundering, fuelled the London Docklands property boom with dirty money, and left controversy and murder in its wake.

The project has reportedly been extensively researched and interviewed some of those involved in the events. Filming is now underway in London ahead of a BBC One premiere in the U.K. followed by a Paramount+ premiere in the United States.
