Left Bank Pictures and Netflix are in early discussions for a prequel to its British royal drama series “The Crown” according to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mail.

The prequel would start with the death of Queen Victoria in 1901, and would run up to where “The Crown” began with the wedding of Queen Elizabeth II in 1947.

“The Crown” creator Peter Morgan would also pen the prequel, which would run for three to five seasons. That would encompass the reigns of Edward VII (1901-10), George V (1910-36), Edward VIII (1936) and George VI (1936-52).

While there has been alleged talk, the prequel is neither in development nor has it been greenlit. The fifth season of “The Crown” is currently on track to premiere in November, whilst the sixth and final season begins production in August.
