HBO’s anticipated limited series adaptation of Justin Fenton’s novel “We Own This City” has set an April 25th launch date.
The series is set to follow the history of the Baltimore Police Department and their Gun Trace Task Force, exploring internal corruption and how the actions of the task force affect the city at large, with mass arrests and drug prohibition policies being favoured over actual police work.
Jon Bernthal, Wunmi Mosaku, Jamie Hector, Josh Charles, McKinley Belcher III and Dagmara Dominczyk co-star while Treat Williams, Jermaine Crawford and Domenick Lombardozzi guest star.
“The Wire” and “Treme” duo George Pelecanos and David Simon are behind the series which was directed and executive produced by Reinaldo Marcus Green (“King Richard”).
That’s not the only air date revealed by the network today. HBO has also revealed an April 24th premiere date for the third season of its acclaimed dark comedy “Barry” which returns after a three-year absence. Bill Hader returns in the wake of the second season finale’s dark events. The first two seasons took home six Emmy awards.
Finally, HBO has set a Spring release window (but no specific date) for Steven Moffat’s drama series adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s novel “The Time Traveler’s Wife”. The love story follows Clare and Henry (Rose Leslie and Theo James), who are plagued by Henry’s uncontrollable time-travelling ability.
The dates come as the network is celebrating the ratings success of the second season of its Zendaya-led series “Euphoria” with the most recent episode bringing in 5.1 million viewers between HBO and HBO Max – a 20% increase from the week before and a 45% increase in the season overall.
