Driver, Cruz Join Mann’s “Ferrari” Film

Driver Cruz Join Manns Ferrari Film
MGM

Adam Driver will play Enzo, Penelope Cruz is Laura Ferrari and Shailene Woodley has been cast as Lina Lardi in filmmaker Michael Mann’s long-gestating “Ferrari” feature for STXfilms.

Starting in the summer of 1957, ex-racecar driver Enzo Ferrari is in crisis as all the dramatic forces of his life are in collision.

Bankruptcy stalks the company he and his wife, Laura, built from nothing a decade earlier. Their tempestuous marriage struggles with the mourning for one son and the acknowledgement of another.

He inspires his Spring Team of drivers, some like surrogate sons, as he boldly strategizes to roll the dice on one race – the infamous Mille Miglia.

As the red cars slam through towns and mountain passes towards unpredictable outcomes, the future of these characters’ lives are being written.

Mann will direct from a script written by Troy Kennedy Martin (“The Italian Job”) and based on Brock Yates’ book. Mann, P.J. van Sandwijk, John Lesher, Lars Sylvest, Thorsten Schumacher and Gareth West will produce. Shooting begins this spring on location in Italy.
