Paramount Pictures has pushed back two of its major releases.
The Steven Caple Jr.-directed “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” which was to bow on June 24th 2022, will now open a full year later on June 9th 2023.
Set in the 1990s, the film has been shooting around Brooklyn, New York and Peru and wrapped principal photography late last monnth.
In addition the next “Star Trek” film has been pushed back six months from June 9th 2023 to December 22nd 2023. That delay is less surprising as, much like “Star Wars” right now, it’s not clear what Paramount’s plans for the future of ‘Trek’ on film is at present even as its TV side is booming.
The delays come as newly installed Paramount CEO Brian Robbins takes control of the studio’s release pipeline.
