Glitter & Doom
Ming-Na Wen (“The Mandalorian”) and Missy Pyle (“Y: The Last Man”) have joined the jukebox musical feature “Glitter & Doom” set to the music of the Indigo Girls.
Tom Gustafson directs the summer romance film currently in production in Mexico City. The story follows a musician and a carefree kid who fall in love at first sight. Alex Diaz, Alan Cammish, Lee DeLaria and Tig Notaro star. [Source: Deadline]
The Idol
Lily-Rose Depp has been set as the female lead opposite Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye in the high-profile drama series “The Idol” in development at HBO.
The series follows a female pop singer who starts a romance with an enigmatic L.A. club owner who is the leader of a secret cult. Tesfaye and Sam Levinson co-created the series while Joseph Epstein serves as writer and showrunner. [Source: Deadline]
Better Things
Emmy winner Ron Cephas Jones has joined the fifth season of FX’s critically acclaimed “Better Things”. Jones will play Ron, an old friend and acting colleague of Sam (Pamela Adlon). Production is underway for a 2022 premiere. [Source: THR]
True Lies
Omar Miller, Erica Hernandez and Mike O’Gorman will play series regulars opposite Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga in CBS’ drama pilot “True Lies” based on James Cameron’s 1994 action-comedy.
Miller will play Gib, the dry-witted logistics guy for the spy agency played by Tom Arnold in the original. Hernandez and O’Gorman will portray fellow operatives at the agency. [Source: Deadline]
Reptile
Benicio Del Toro, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Silverstone, Michael Pitt, Ato Essandoh, Frances Fisher, Eric Bogosian, Domenick Lombardozzi, Karl Glusman, Matilda Lutz, Owen Teague and Catherine Dyer are all set to star in Grant Singer’s crime thriller “Reptile” at Netflix.
Benjamin Brewer co-wrote the script which begins in the wake of the brutal murder of a young real estate agent. A hardened detective (Del Toro) attempts to uncover the truth in a case where nothing is as it seems. In doing so, he finds himself dismantling the illusions in his own life. [Source: THR]
