Former SNL alum and comedian Norm Macdonald has died at the age of 61. Macdonald reportedly passed away after a nine-year, private battle with cancer.

Macdonald started out in Hollywood as a writer on “The Dennis Miller Show” and “Roseanne” before joining SNL in 1992 and anchoring the Weekend Update segment.

Macdonald then created and starred as a hockey player turned social worker on the ABC sitcom “Norm” which ran for three seasons from 1999-2001. He also appeared on “The Middle,” “Skylanders Academy,” “A Minute With Stan Hooper” and “Last Comic Standing”.

On the big screen he appeared in such films as “Dirty Work,” “The People vs. Larry Flynt,” “Dr. Dolittle,” “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,” “Screwed” and “Funny People”.
