Barry Sonnenfeld’s 1991 film adaptation of “The Addams Family” is set to come to 4K Ultra HD this Fall with a newly remastered and restored print.
The release will include both the original theatrical version and a never-before-seen “More Mamushka!” version which takes the Gomez (Raul Julia) and Fester (Christopher Lloyd) dance number and shows the entire sequence instead of what was a half-length version that made it to cinemas.
There’ll also be a brand-new featurette looking back at the making of the film with behind-the-scenes footage and a new interview with Sonnenfeld, as well as an introduction to the restored cut and an archival featurette.
The two early 1990s “The Addams Family” films remain a favorite for many fans over the years. From the couple goals of the utterly devoted to each other Gomez and Morticia (Anjelica Huston), to the unhinged behaviour of their daughter Wednesday (Christina Ricci), the films have aged like fine wine unlike many other films of the time.
“The Addams Family” will score a 4K digital release on October 19th followed by a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and remastered Blu-ray release on November 9th.
