Filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan has been on a good run of late with his last few films, and recent trailers for his next feature “Old” are looking highly promising.
Set to hit cinemas in just over a month from now, the film follows a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they’re relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly, reducing their entire lives into a single day.
With just a few weeks left, you would think the picture would be done and locked by now – turns out it’s not. During a Tribeca Film Fest panel this week, Shyamalan revealed he’s still fine-tuning the end of the movie:
“I’m deciding on the minor note; how to end on a minor note. Unbreakable ends on a kind of a dip, right? He goes to the dark note, that minor note at the end. The guy you thought was the best friend is the villain….the minor note sticks to you forever.”
The project wrapped filming in the Dominican Republic back in November and from the sounds of it, the movie’s post-production is essentially done beyond this decision over the right ending. “Old” remains very much on track to hit cinemas on July 23rd.
