The Tank
Filmmaker Scott Walker (“The Frozen Ground”) will direct the creature feature “The Tank” which will shoot in New Zealand in late summer. Oscar-winning special effects supervisor Richard Taylor and his team at WETA will create the creature effects.

The story follows a young family who inherits a remote and long-abandoned coastal property in Oregon, and awakens beneath it, a horde of ferocious and deadly creatures, that feed on the living. Happy Dog Entertainment and GFC Films are backing the project. [Source: Variety]

The Guncle
Lionsgate has picked up the rights to Steven Rowley’s new novel “The Guncle” with plans for a film adaptation that Rowley will pen. Kristin Burr and Rob Weisbach will produce.

The story follows a reclusive, once-famous gay television star who takes his young niece and nephew into his Palm Springs home after their mother dies suddenly. He introduces them to his outsize life and unique wisdom – bringing about healing for all three. [Source: THR]

Super Mario Bros.
Twenty minutes of unused film footage from 1993’s rather infamous film adaptation of Nintendo’s “Super Mario Bros.” franchise has gone online, head over to TygerbugGarrett on Twitter for screen caps and video.

The re-release and restoration of the footage comes from The Movie Archive, superfans Ryan Hoss and Steven Applebaum and film editor Garrett Gilchrist who are dubbing it “Super Mario Bros: The Morton Jankel Cut” with the restoration an ongoing work.

Parallel Mothers
Pedro Almodovar’s new film “Madres Paralelas” (“Parallel Mothers”) has just finished and today the first material from the film has been released in the form of a behind-the-scenes video clip from Sony Pictures Classics.

Penelope Cruz, Milena Smit, Israel Elejalde, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Rossy de Palma and Julieta Serrano star in the film which centers on three imperfect mothers. A 2022 release is planned

Black Widow
Disney has released a new ‘special look’ video for Marvel Studios’ “Black Widow” with this teasing the Scarlett Johansson-led film’s debut on July 9th in cinemas and on the Disney+ service with Premier Access. The new clip shows plenty of action, completed visual effects and new shots that offer a more epic scope.
