British medical drama “Holby City” has set an end date, bringing the drama to a close a full 23 years after it debuted initially as a spin-off of “Casualty”.
The BBC announced on Wednesday that the series will end in early 2022 with more than 1,000 episodes in the can following its premiere in 1999.
The U.K. public broadcaster is shifting its focus to making shows outside London, with this soap shot near London at BBC Elstree Centre in Hertfordshire.
Around 250 people who work on the show – including actors, camera operators, engineers and hair and make-up professionals. The series still regularly attracts more than 3 million viewers.
