The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with FOX announcing their strategy today.
After spending much of last Fall relying on acquisitions and repeats, FOX is returning to a more traditional line-up this year. In addition, they’re betting big on advertiser support and are making their free-ad-focused Tubi service an integral part of their future.
There’s also a bunch of reality shows on the way including the singing competition series “Alter Ego,” “Next Level Chef” with Gordon Ramsay, “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” hosted by Niecy Nash, and “Domino Masters” hosted by Eric Stonestreet. The previously announced “Fantasy Island” reboot has also been set for an August launch.
Here’s the full breakdown of the new scripted series coming in the Fall:
The Big Leap
Scott Foley stars in this modern story that revolves around a group of diverse, down-on-their-luck characters attempting to change their lives by participating in a potentially life-ruining reality dance show. The project hails from Liz Heldens (“The Passage”).
The Cleaning Lady
“Daredevil” actress Elodie Yung plays a Cambodian doctor who comes to the U.S. for medical treatment to save her ailing son. When the system fails and pushes her into hiding, she refuses to be beaten down and becomes a cleaning lady for organized crime – using her intelligence to forge her own path in the criminal underworld. Miranda Kwok (“The 100”) serves as writer/producer.
Monarch
An epic, multi-generational musical drama about America’s first family of country music – The Romans. They are passionate and fiercely talented, but while their name is synonymous with honesty, the very foundation of this family’s success is a lie and soon dangerous truths bubble to the surface. Melissa London Hilfers (“Instinct”) serves as creator, writer and executive producer while Michael Rauch is showrunner.
Our Kind of People
Set in Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard, an aspirational stronghold for the rich and powerful black elite. Angela Vaughn plays a single mother who develops a revolutionary haircare line and soon discovers a dark secret about her own mother’s past that will turn her world upside-down. Karin Gist serves as writer/producer and Lee Daniels executive produces.
Pivoting
Eliza Coupe, Ginnifer Goodwin and Maggie Q star in this comedy set in a small Long Island middle-class town. Three close-knit childhood friends deal with the death of the fourth member of their group with a series of impulsive, ill-advised and self-indulgent decisions. The project hails from writer/producer Liz Astrof (“The Conners”).
Welcome to Flatch
Seann William Scott and Aya Cash star in this comedy in which a documentary crew sets out to explore the lives of residents in a small American town – their dreams, their concerns – and stumbles upon the Midwestern town of Flatch which is made up of many eccentric personalities. The project hails from writer-producer Jenny Bicks (“Sex and the City”).
