“Battlestar Galactica” executive producer David Eick is reportedly developing a new remake of 1973 Joe Don Baker-led feature film “Walking Tall” – this time as an ongoing work.
USA Network will be the home of the new ‘Tall’ which will see WWE star Charlotte Flair starring as a Tucson cop who finds herself caught in a web of fraud, exploitation and murder. She is forced to go full vigilante to protect her home town from falling victim to modern corruption.
The new version, the second remake after the 2004 movie starring Dwayne Johnson and Johnny Knoxville, is being set up as either a two-hour TV movie with the hope of future instalments or a potential ongoing series. Village Roadshow, Three Rivers, WWE Studios and Mosaic are all backing the series.
Eick is also developing a ‘sci-fi Romancing the Stone’ style series called “The Zone of Silence” at Peacock. That series follows a husband/wife UFO-hunting team, suffering from a strained marriage, who investigate a region in Mexico known for its bizarre phenomena and rumors of a hidden alien culture preparing for an attack. Mario Lopez, Jeff Stearns and Eric Winter will produce for Universal TV.
