Having just worked with him on the period drama “The Last Duel,” actress Jodie Comer and director Ridley Scott may be re-teaming for Scott’s new epic “Kitbag” at Apple Studios.
Comer is reportedly Scott’s choice to play Napoleon Bonaparte’s beloved Josephine in the film, but the deal-making is still only in the early talks phase. If she signs, she would join Joaquin Phoenix who is set to star in the Napoleon role.
The original work is described as a personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his volatile relationship with his wife Josephine.
Scott reportedly was unaware of the actress, despite the Emmy-winning work Comer had been doing on the acclaimed and popular “Killing Eve” series when she was cast alongside Matt Damon, Adam Driver and Ben Affleck in “The Last Duel”. He was said to be blown away by her work during production.
Scott is planning to direct “Kitbag” after he finishes crime thriller “House of Gucci” at MGM. David Scarpa is penning the script while Scott and Kevin Walsh will produce.
