Following his departure from “Shotgun Wedding” yesterday, actor Armie Hammer has also quietly left the star-studded cast of the Sam Esmail-produced Watergate series “Gaslit” at UCP.
Hammer reportedly departed the project several weeks ago due to a scheduling conflict with the limited event series “The Offer” about the making of “The Godfather” for the Paramount+ service.
His exit from “Gaslit” came long before the current controversy over alleged private social media messages attributed to the actor this past weekend. The “Call Me By Your Name” star has since denied the allegations.
Julia Roberts, Sean Penn and Joel Edgerton star in “Gaslit” which focuses on the untold stories and forgotten characters of the scandal including Nixon’s opportunistic subordinates and the deranged zealots aiding and abetting their crimes. Hammer would have played White House Counsel John Dean.
