Quibi Content Officially Goes To Roku

It’s official, Roku has bought exclusive global distribution rights to the portfolio of Jeffrey Katzenberg’s recently shuttered mobile streaming service Quibi.

Financial terms were not disclosed but the acquisition covers most of the Quibi library. The exception includes some daily news shows.

The original rights deals, allowing the rights to revert back to creators after seven years, is still in place with Roku VP of Programming Rob Holmes telling Deadline: “We preserved all of what was in the existing agreements.”

Quibi’s infrastructure and technology, including its ‘Turnstyle’ interface, are not part of the deal. The programming will be available for free starting later this year and will carry advertising along with being housed on the Roku Channel.
