In the wake of its announcement of all its films going both theatrical and coming to HBO Max simultaenously, Warner Bros. Pictures has further shifted its schedule around. First up, the “Tom and Jerry” film has shifted by a week and will now hit February 26th. The reboot of “Mortal Kombat” has been pushed to April 16th, and the Hugh Jackman-led “Reminiscence” has been delayed to an unspecified 2021 release date. [Source: Warner Bros. Pictures]
False Positive
Hulu has picked up the Ilana Glazer-starring and co-written horror film “False Positive” from A24. John Lee helms the contemporary “Rosemary’s Baby” redo which also stars Justin Theroux, Pierce Brosnan, Gretchen Mol, Josh Hamilton and Sophia Bush. [Source: Variety]
Derrickson & Cargill Deal
“Sinister” and “Doctor Strange” duo of writer/director Scott Derrickson and writer C. Robert Cargill have closed a first-look deal with Blumhouse TV via their production company Crooked Highway. Said company will develop small-screen projects for the banner. [Source: Blumhouse]
Francis Lee Horror Film
“God’s Own Country” and “Ammonite” director Francis Lee says he’s working on two projects with one being a “really, really f–king scary horror film” which is set sometime in the 20th century. Said film will also continue Lee’s penchant for exploring intimate human relationships along with “dealing with some fundamentals about being queer. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2
Golden Globe-nominated composer Daniel Pemberton has confirmed he’s returning to do the score for the “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” sequel which is currently in production. Joaquim Dos Santos directs, David Callaham pens and Phil Lord and Chris Miller produce the film due to open October 7th 2022. [Source: Twitter]
