Actor/filmmaker Kenneth Branagh is set to get his own Paramount+ series.
Branagh will both star in and executive produce “Laird,” a family drama set in the Scottish Highlands.
The series will follow a local estate owner, the Laird of Castle Drummoch (Branagh), who challenges the ambitions of an American billionaire intent on buying up large swaths of nearby land.
The project hails from “The Agency” co-creators and brothers Jez and John-Henry Butterworth along with “The 100” producer Georgia Lee.
“Atonement” and “Darkest Hour” filmmaker Joe Wright will direct the pilot while Branagh, the Butterworths, David Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Charles Finch and Keith Cox executive produce.
Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios is backing the project. Paramount+ is continuing to order high-profile shows with major leads including legal drama “Discretion” with Nicole Kidman, and true crime adaptation “Fear Not” with Anne Hathaway.
