“Lord of the Rings” Series Adds Twenty More

Amazon has announced approximately twenty new cast members that will join the previously announced fifteen in their mega-budget “The Lord of the Rings” TV series which has been filming in New Zealand for months.

The series will explore new storylines set centuries before the events of ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ during Middle Earth’s Second Age – a time when Sauron forged the rings and ultimately rose to power.

Specifics of their characters are under wraps. They join the likes of the previously announced Tom Budge, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Joseph Mawle, Maxim Baldry, Markella Kavenagh, Ema Horvath and Morfydd Clark.

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay serve as showrunners and executive producers while J.A. Bayona is set to direct the first two episodes and will executive produce. A premiere date has yet to be determined.
