Constantine
Peter Stormare had a brief but memorable role as Lucifer in the 2005 film “Constantine” based on the “Hellblazer” comics from DC. Recently the actor took to Instagram to confirm a sequel is in the works to the Keanu Reeves-starring adaptation. Talk began earlier this year that Warner Bros. and Bad Robot Productions were looking into such a project. [Source: Instagram]
Eloise
Linda Woolverton will pen a live-action film adaptation of Kay Thompson and Hilary Knight’s 1950s “Eloise” book series for MRC. The books have sold more than 15 million English-language copies to date worldwide.
Eloise is a self-assured child who lives in a luxurious hotel in New York, looked after by her British nurse and her beloved dog and turtle. She has her own language with endless monologues, and a rather enormous imagination. If something is amiss, Eloise usually has a hand in it. [Source: Vital Thrills]
The Plane
Solstice Studios has acquired worldwide rights to the Gerard Butler-led action thriller “The Plane,” the news coming just over a day after Lionsgate dropped out of distributing because producers were unable to obtain production insurance to cover a COVID-19 outbreak. The film is now setting a late June 2021 production date. [Source: Variety]
Stadia
Google has announced it will give away Stadia controllers and Chromecast Ultras for the rest of the year to current YouTube Premium subscribers. If players are already subscribed to the ad-free YouTube Premium in the U.S., you can get a free Stadia Premiere Edition shipped to your home.
The move is seen as an attempt by Google to gain traction with Stadia, its game streaming service that has failed to ignite excitement or much of an audience since launching late last year. The service offers games at full prices as opposed to a subscription model. [Source; Screen Rant]
Chaos Walking
Lionsgate has released the first official poster for Doug Liman’s long-delayed sci-fi film “Chaos Walking” starring Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland. Based on Patrick Ness’ young adult trilogy, ambitious post-apocalyptic thriller in which women were all killed and men can hear each other’s thoughts. They try to escape and hide in an environment where all thought is heard and all movement seen.
