BBC America have released the first trailer and clips from “The Watch,” the upcoming fantasy-comedy TV series based on celebrated author Terry Pratchett’s novel and airing from January 3rd.
Based on the subset of Pratchett’s’s Discworld novels, The Watch is a police procedural following a group of misfit cops, led by steampunk vigilante Sam Vimes (Richard Dormer), as they attempt to save the corrupt city of Ankh-Morpork from unruly crime and the mythical creatures wreaking havoc in it.
Part comedy, the series: “pits trolls, werewolves, wizards and other improbable heroes against an evil plot to resurrect a great dragon which would lead to the destruction of life as they know it.”
The trailer has yielded controversial reaction amongst fans of the books who seem more keen to see a direct DiscWorld adapatation happen. Simon Allen produces the series which also stars Wendell Pierce as Death and . Lara Rossi as Lady Sybill.
