Idris Elba is set to star in “Everest” and “Adrift” director Baltasar Kormakur’s new survival thriller “Beast” for Universal Pictures.
Based on an original idea by Jaime Primak-Sullivan and penned by Ryan Engle (“Rampage”), the story is under wraps but is said to be akin to “The Shallows” albeit with a lion, rather than a shark, being the predatory antagonist stalking Elba.
Kormakur, Will Packer and James Lopez will produce. Elba recently premiered “Concrete Cowboy” in Toronto and will be seen next year in James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad”.
