“Parasite” star Song Kang-ho will reunite with his “The Host” and “Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance” co-star Bae Doona on “Baby, Box, Broker,” the Korean-language debut of celebrated Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda (“Shoplifters,” “Like Father, Like Son”).
The film takes as its starting point boxes that are left out for people to anonymously drop off their unwanted babies. Gang Dong-won (“Peninsula”) also stars in the film which will be shot in Korea and will heavily utilise local actors and crew.
Zip Cinema and CJ Entertainment are backing the project and Kore-eda is currently completing the screenplay ahead of a 2021 production start. This follows on from Kore-eda’s most recent film, the French language title “The Truth”.
