There are “serious talks” underway about developing a live-action theatrical feature based on the “Static Shock” comic. That’s the word from filmmaker Reginald Hudlin (“House Party,” “Marshall”) who made the reveal during a surprise DC Fandome panel about Milestone Media today.
Hudlin says: “We’re in serious conversations about, as we’re launching the comic book series, developing the ‘Static Shock’ movie. That will be a theatrical feature film. We’re also talking to all the other divisions of Warner, for example, the animation department… and we’re talking about doing one of those feature films involving the Milestone characters. We’re also looking at new media.”
“Static Shock” follows an African-American teenage boy in the city of Dakota with electricity based powers, who with the help of his inventive friend, fights crime as a superhero.
“Static Shock” animated voiceover actor Phil LaMarr was on hand for the panel along with DC Milestone Media co-founder Denys Cowan, DC Creative Chief Officer Jim Lee.
