“The Batman” Resumes Filming Early September

Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” will resume shooting in early September at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom.

The live-action feature was roughly seven weeks into production when filming was halted in March due to the coronavirus pandemic and has approximately three months of material left to shoot. Construction on sets is currently underway and the fast-changing nature of the pandemic means those plans are subject to change.

Robert Pattinson and others in the cast have been waiting in the U.K. during the pandemic to resume filming, others are expected to begin making their way back to the country soon. The first glimpse of footage from the film is expected to be shown at the first of two DC Fandome events this coming Saturday.

The other big Warners title that was in production, the fourth “The Matrix” film, has already resumed filming in Berlin. The experience on that set has allowed those involved to establish and fine-tune safety protocols for keeping sets coronavirus-free.

Production on the third “Fantastic Beasts” is also likely to kick off in September.
