After a brief stall, Vancouver is opening up for film and television shoots as local unions have cleared a number of TV series to begin production there.
Hollywood studios have insisted on rigorous testing according to the current SAG-AFTRA guidelines in the U.S., while British Columbia unions have pushed back and called for far more limited testing of the crews they represent.
Details of the agreements are reportedly show-specific, but apparently compromises have been reached which should allow productions to kick off at the end of month and September.
Sony Pictures TV has already made a deal for “The Good Doctor” which will resume filming late August. Disney TV Studios has reportedly reached an agreement for its shows like “A Million Little Things,” “Mighty Ducks,” “Mysterious Benedict Society” and the upcoming “Turner & Hooch”.
Warner Bros. TV’s “Supernatural,” “The Flash,” “Superman & Lois,” CBS TV Studios’ “Charmed” and Netflix’s “Midnight Mass” have also all been looking to resume production there.
