Nia DaCosta, the “Little Woods” director who helms the upcoming highly anticipated revival of the “Candyman” franchise, has been set at the director of the upcoming “Captain Marvel” sequel at Marvel Studios.
DaCosta takes over for Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck who helmed the first film which opened last year and grossed $1.13 billion worldwide.
Marvel does switch up directors on its franchises with Thor, Iron Man and Captain America all seeing a least one change at the helm during their solo film trilogy runs.
DaCosta reportedly met with Marvel chief Kevin Feige over the weekend. Megan McDonnell, who worked on the upcoming “WandaVision” series, is penning the script for the sequel with with Brie Larson returning to star as Carol Danvers.
